Tivo/Freevo/MythTV

ProjectsSince getting TiVo a year ago I've enjoyed watching practically nothing but non-live tv. It's a nice change in paradigm. It is of course the natural evolution of tv.

Recently I decided to add a tv to the bedroom. At the same time I restarted my netflix subscription. So, all things being Kyle I thought it'd be nice to rip dvds so I could watch them at my leisure. Naturally I thought I would want to ftp them to my Tivo box. Which of course meant that I'd need to hack my Tivo.

dvd::rip Grab preview process hangs

ProjectsI'm using dvd::rip version 0.98.1 to rip DVDs on Mandriva 2007 Official. There is a problem where dvdrip can hang during the grab preview process. When you select "grab frame" it runs for some period and appears to be working but then just hangs.

Here's the solution:

What I've been learning - Welding Part 2

I wanted to make a stand which I could put some firewood on.

I only had a few scrap pieces of metal left so I couldn't concern myself too much with the way it looked. Also, I didn't have any long pieces so as you can see in image 2 above I had to weld several pieces together to make one long piece.

My plan for this rack was to make it as big as I could with the scraps I had available. I welded the ends at an angle in an attempt to keep firewood from rolling off.
